This Colorful Moth Might Just Be The World’s Most Beautiful Insect. Prepare To Fall In Love!

People typically think of moths as pests and try to keep them from coming into their homes. Those people clearly have never met Dryocampa rubicunda, also called the rosy maple moth.

This colorful arthropod is found in the eastern regions of North America, and soon, it will be making its way into your heart.

The rosy maple moth comes in a variety of colors, but there’s one particular subspecies that people are likening to Battenberg cakes.

Its colors are astounding, and the species may change your mind forever when it comes to moths.

This lovely pink and yellow moth gets its color from a diet that consists entirely of maple leaves that it eats very early on in its life.

They live in the eastern parts of the United States, but they’re just as adorable anywhere you find them.

Once they become adults, they stop eating for the rest of their lives, which could be anywhere from two to nine months.

They live a lonely existence, as they’re very solitary when it comes to getting around.

They can be incredibly hard to spot, even with those wonderful colors, as they only come out during the first early hours of the evening in order to feed.

This is a good thing too, as their bright colors probably make them very attractive to hungry birds.
